1. INDIA’S FIRST IMMERSIVE LANGUAGE MUSEUM
Current Context: India’s first immersive language museum, “Shabdalok – The Museum of Word”, was opened at the National Library, Kolkata.
ABOUT SHABDALOK
- The museum has been developed by the Ministry of Culture to celebrate and preserve India’s rich linguistic and literary heritage through interactive and immersive technologies.
- Location: National Library campus, Kolkata
- An immersive language museum is a museum that uses advanced digital technologies to provide an interactive and engaging experience rather than displaying only traditional exhibits.
- Uses Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), projection mapping, holograms, touch-screen displays, interactive audio-visual installations, and multimedia storytelling.
- Allows visitors to experience the evolution, sounds, scripts, literature, and cultural significance of Indian languages through interactive exhibits.
- It is the first museum in India dedicated exclusively to languages.

2. NSE LAUNCHES ELECTRONIC GOLD RECEIPTS (EGRs)
Current Context: National Stock Exchange launched Electronic Gold Receipts (EGRs) backed by SEBI-regulated vaults.
ABOUT ELECTRONIC GOLD RECEIPTS
- The EGR segment was launched to create a transparent, efficient, and formalized gold trading ecosystem in India.
- EGRs are dematerialised securities that represent ownership of physical gold stored in SEBI-accredited vaults.
- Each EGR is fully backed by physical gold of specified purity.
- EGRs are held in demat accounts and traded on stock exchanges like shares.
- Investors can convert physical gold into EGRs (dematerialisation) and redeem EGRs back into physical gold (rematerialisation).

3. INDIA APPROVES QDENGA DENGUE VACCINE
Current Context: India granted market authorisation to QDENGA (TAK-003) on 20 July 2026.
ABOUT QDENGA VACCINE
- India approved QDENGA (TAK-003), the country’s first dengue vaccine, after receiving market authorisation from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI).
- Developed by Takeda Biopharmaceuticals, the vaccine is approved for individuals aged 4-60 years.
- It is expected to be introduced in India’s private healthcare market in 2027.
- Provides protection against all four dengue virus serotypes (DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3 and DENV-4).
- Can be administered irrespective of previous dengue infection, unlike the earlier Dengvaxia vaccine
ABOUT DENGUE
- Cause: Dengue virus (Flavivirus).
- Vector: Female Aedes aegypti mosquito (also Aedes albopictus).

4. UK APPOINTS KANISHKA NARAYAN AS FIRST AI MINISTER
Current Context: The United Kingdom appointed Kanishka Narayan, an Indian-origin Labour MP, as its first Minister for Artificial Intelligence (AI) to attend the UK Cabinet.
ABOUT KANISHKA NARAYAN
- The appointment was made by newly appointed Prime Minister Andy Burnham as part of a Cabinet reshuffle.

5. PAKISTAN TO HOST 2027 SOUTH ASIAN GAMES
Current Context: Pakistan will host the 14th South Asian Games from 23-31 March 2027.
ABOUT SOUTH ASIAN GAMES
- The Games will be held across Lahore, Islamabad, and Faisalabad, marking Pakistan’s return as host after more than two decades
- Previous Hosts:Pakistan hosted in 1989 and 2004
- Pakistan will host the Games for the third time.
- The event was postponed multiple times (from 2023 to 2024, then 2026) before being rescheduled for March 2027.

6. FIFA WORLD CUP 2030
Current Context: FIFA World Cup 2030 will be hosted by six countries across three continents.
ABOUT FIFA WORLD CUP 2030
- The 2030 FIFA World Cup will be the 24th edition of the FIFA World Cup and will commemorate the 100th anniversary (centenary) of the tournament, which was first held in Uruguay in 1930.
- It will be jointly hosted by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, with three centenary celebration matches hosted by Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay.

- Africa (Morocco).
- Europe (Spain and Portugal).
- South America (Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay).

Current Context: P. V. Sindhu created history by becoming the first Indian to win the Japan Open badminton title in the women’s singles final of the BWF Japan Open 2026 (Super 750) held in Tokyo.

- Ended a 19-month title drought and her first major BWF World Tour title in seven years.
- Defeated reigning World Champion Akane Yamaguchi on her home court.
