Current Context: PM Modi inaugurated India’s first Greenfield integrated refinery-cum-petrochemical complex at Pachpadra, Balotra district, Rajasthan.

ABOUT THE COMPLEX

• The project is regarded as a landmark in India’s energy sector, being the first new Greenfield refinery established in over a decade and integrating both refining and petrochemical production at a single location

• Refining Capacity:9 MMTPA, Petrochemical Capacity:4 MMTPA
• Products: Petrol, diesel, LPG, aviation fuel. Valuable petrochemical products

2. PM-SETU GETS NATIONWIDE ROLLOUT FOR ITI UPGRADE

Current Context: The Government of India has approved the nationwide rollout of the Pradhan Mantri Skilling and Employability Transformation through Upgraded ITIs (PM-SETU) scheme across Industrial Training Institute (ITI) clusters.

• It is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme aimed at transforming Government ITIs into state-of-the-art, industry-led skilling institutions capable of producing highly employable youth.
• Total Outlay:₹60,000 crore (5 years)
• Covers:200 identified ITI clusters across India

Key Features:

• Upgrade 1,000 Government ITIs
• Establish 5 National Centres of Excellence for skilling under hub-and-spoke model
• Industry participation at centre of curriculum design

Approved Strategic Investment Plans:

• ₹1,237.58 crore for 5 ITI clusters in Odisha, Gujarat, and Telangana

3. TRIBE-X DIGITAL PLATFORM FOR TRIBAL KNOWLEDGE

Current Context: TribeX digital learning platform was launched on by Union Tribal Affairs Minister in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

ABOUT TRIBE-X PLATFORM

• TribeX is India’s first comprehensive digital learning platform dedicated to tribal arts, culture, languages, traditional knowledge, and skill development.
• It has been developed by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs to preserve, promote, document, and disseminate India’s rich tribal heritage using digital technology.
• The platform is the renamed and expanded version of the Adi Sanskriti Digital Learning Platform, whose beta version was launched in September 2025

Platform Features:

• 20 free certificate courses on tribal paintings, handicrafts, musical instruments
• UGC-recognised postgraduate diploma programmes in tribal languages, art forms, crafts
• Heritage archive with 5,000+ multimedia resources
• Plans to expand to 100+ courses and 10,000+ resources

4. GUJARAT BUILDS FIRST AIR-FILLED RUBBER DAMS

Current Context: Gujarat is constructing its first two air-filled rubber dams across Heran River and Ambika River.

ABOUT AIR-FILLED RUBBER DAMS

• Air-filled rubber dams are inflatable hydraulic structures made of high-strength reinforced rubber fixed to a concrete foundation.
• They function like a temporary weir when inflated with compressed air and can be deflated quickly during floods or for maintenance.
• Gujarat is the first Indian state to adopt this advanced South Korean air-filled rubber dam technology for large-scale water management
• Inflated with air to raise water level; deflated during high flows
• SCADA-based automation systems for inflating and deflating
• SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) is an Industrial Control System (ICS) used to monitor, control, and automate industrial processes from a centralized location.
• It enables operators to collect real-time data from remote equipment, analyze system performance, and control operations efficiently.
• Technical Features: Rubber bladder thickness: 18-32 mm, Withstands temperatures above 50°C, Service life: 30 years.

5. MIZORAM’S NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM BECOMES INDIA’S 21ST DESIGNATED REPOSITORY

Current Context: Mizoram University’s Natural History Museum designated as India’s 21st Designated Repository under Biological Diversity Act, 2002.

ABOUT THE DESIGNATION

• A Designated Repository is an institution officially notified under Section 39 of the Biological Diversity Act, 2002 to preserve and maintain authenticated biological specimens collected under the Act.
• These repositories serve as permanent scientific reference centres for taxonomy, biodiversity research, species identification, and conservation planning.
• Natural History Museum, Mizoram University
• Established in 2022 under Mizoram University, Aizawl.
• Located in the Indo-Burma Biodiversity Hotspot, one of the world’s richest biodiversity regions.
• Specializes in:Pteridophytes, macrofungi, reptiles, amphibians, freshwater fishes, moths, beetles, butterflies

• The National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) is a statutory body established under Section 8 of the Biological Diversity Act, 2002.
• It was established by the Government of India to implement the provisions of the Biological Diversity Act, 2002. It functions under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC).
• Headquarters: Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

6. INDONESIA TO IMPORT INDIA’S ASTRA MISSILES

Current Context: During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Indonesia in July 2026, Indonesia decided to import India’s Astra Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air Missile (BVRAAM), becoming the first foreign customer for the indigenous missile.

• The agreement is part of the expanded India-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which also includes cooperation on the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile.
• Astra is an indigenously developed Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air Missile (BVRAAM) designed to engage enemy aircraft beyond the pilot’s visual range.
• It has been developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and is manufactured by Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL).
• Astra equips the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Indian Navy, and its export marks a major milestone in India’s defence manufacturing ecosystem.

Current Context: PM Modi conferred with ‘Bintang Adipurna’, Indonesia’s highest civilian award in Jakarta.

ABOUT THE AWARD

• Bintang Adipurna is the highest class of the Star of the Republic of Indonesia (Bintang Republik Indonesia), the country’s highest civilian order.
• It was instituted in 1959 and is conferred by the President of Indonesia.
• The award is presented to individuals who have rendered extraordinary service to the unity, continuity, integrity, and prosperity of the Republic of Indonesia.
• It may be awarded to both Indonesian citizens and distinguished foreign leaders for exceptional contributions
