1. WORLD COMPUTER LITERACY DAY
Observed every year on 2 December.
Aim: To encourage development of technological skills, particularly among children and women in India.
Launched: 2001 by Indian computer company NIIT.
2. NATIONAL POLLUTION CONTROL DAY
Observed in India on 2 December each year.
Aim: Raise public awareness about pollution, industrial safety & stronger pollution-control measures.
Commemorates: Victims of the 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy, when methyl isocyanate leaked from a pesticide plant in Bhopal (2–3 Dec 1984).
3. INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE ABOLITION OF SLAVERY
Observed annually on 2 December.
Aim: Raise awareness & take action against modern slavery — human trafficking, forced labor, forced marriage & child labor.

4. BASIC ANIMAL HUSBANDRY STATISTICS 2025
Current Context: Released by Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying + Ministry of Panchayati Raj, providing annual livestock sector data.
ABOUT THE REPORT
Coverage: Milk, eggs, meat, wool production — with state-wise & per-capita figures.
Importance: Helps track growth trends & sector contributions.
5. WORLD’S MOST POPULOUS CITY – UN REPORT 2025
Current Context: Jakarta surpasses Tokyo as world’s most populated city (UN World Urbanisation Prospects 2025).

Top 3 Most Populous Cities (2025):
- Jakarta: 42 million
- Dhaka: 37 million
- Tokyo: 33 million
9 of 10 largest cities are in Asia (except Cairo).

Marks beginning of the Math’s 550th-year celebrations (Sardha Panchashatamanotsava).
