- It promotes open conversations, reduction of stigma, early identification of people at risk and access to appropriate support and services.

2. INDIA JOINS GLOBAL 6G NETWORK INITIATIVE
Current Context: India joined a U.S.-led multilateral initiative, along with the United States and 24 other countries, to guide the development and deployment of secure next-generation 6G telecommunications networks.
ABOUT THE GLOBAL 6G INITIATIVE
- The initiative is a S.-led international cooperation framework focused on shaping the future development of 6G networks.
- The cooperation seeks to ensure that next-generation networks:
- Reflect shared security interests
- Strengthen global competitiveness
- Promote innovation
- Support secure and reliable digital infrastructure.
- The initiative is particularly important because countries are now working on 6G standards, technologies and deployment frameworks even while 5G deployment is still expanding globally.

3. SEOUL HOSTS 27TH WORLD KNOWLEDGE FORUM
Current Context: The 27th World Knowledge Forum (WKF) opened in Seoul, South Korea.
- The three-day forum is being held at Jangchung Arena and The Shilla Seoul, bringing together global leaders, business executives, academics and technology experts to discuss the future of the global economy, technology and society.
ABOUT WORLD KNOWLEDGE FORUM
- The World Knowledge Forum (WKF) is an annual international forum focused on knowledge-sharing, economic development, technological innovation and global cooperation.
- It was launched in 2000 by Maekyung Media Group of South Korea.
- The forum aims to promote balanced global growth and prosperity through knowledge sharing.
- It is regarded as one of Asia’s major business and knowledge forums.
- Main theme: “The Promethean Moment: Architecting the Co-Intelligence Order”.

4. PM MODI INAUGURATES GLOBAL FINTECH FEST 2026
Current Context: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 7th Global Fintech Fest (GFF) 2026 in Mumbai. The four-day event focuses on emerging technologies such as Agentic AI, Tokenisation and Quantum technology in financial services.
ABOUT GLOBAL FINTECH FEST
- Global Fintech Fest (GFF) is a major international platform for discussion and collaboration in the financial technology ecosystem.
- It brings together policymakers, regulators, financial institutions, fintech companies, startups, investors, technology companies and researchers.
- The forum focuses on how technology can make financial systems more inclusive, efficient, secure and globally connected.
- Venue: Jio World Centre and Trident BKC, Mumbai
- Theme: “Potential to Impact: Agentic AI | Tokenisation | Quantum: Trusted, Connected, Global Systems for Inclusive Finance.”

5. INDIA’S CARBON CREDIT TRADING SCHEME (CCTS)
Current Context: The United Kingdom has officially recognised India’s Carbon Credit Trading Scheme (CCTS) as a qualifying overseas carbon-pricing mechanism under its Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).
- This allows eligible Indian exporters to receive relief for the carbon price already paid in India, helping avoid double carbon pricing when exporting to the UK.
- The UK CBAM is scheduled to come into force in January 2027.
ABOUT CCTS
- It is the framework for developing India’s Carbon Market, aimed at putting a price on greenhouse-gas emissions and encouraging industries to reduce their emissions.
- The Carbon Credit Trading Scheme, 2023 was notified by the Government of India on 28 June 2023.
- The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) is the nodal agency responsible for developing and administering the carbon-market framework, in coordination with the Ministry of Power and Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC).
- Notified:June 2023 (under Energy Conservation (Amendment) Act, 2022)

6. NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR SAFAI KARAMCHARIS (NCSK)
Current Context: The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment appointed Bhagwat Prasad Makwana as the new Chairperson of the National Commission for Safai Karamcharis (NCSK).
- Kaishab Bihari was appointed Vice-Chairperson, while Manoj Kumar Balmiki, Sushma Gaudiyal and Ravi Ramu Kalose were appointed Members.
- Their appointments are effective up to 31 March 2028, the remaining tenure of the present Commission
ABOUT NCSK
- It works under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
- The Commission was initially constituted on 12 August 1994 under the National Commission for Safai Karamcharis Act, 1993.
- Important: NCSK was originally a statutory body, but the 1993 Act ceased to have effect in 2004.
- Since 2004, NCSK has functioned as a non-statutory body under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, with its tenure periodically extended by the Government.

- Grievance redressal and suo-motu cognizance
- Monitoring workplace safety and wages
- Oversight under Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers Act, 2013

Current Context: The Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan 2026 rankings have been released for cities and towns under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP). In Himachal Pradesh, Damtal emerged as the top-performing town, highlighting its performance in measures aimed at improving air quality.
