3. NATIONAL CONCLAVE ON TRIBAL LANGUAGES AND MUSEUMS

Current Context: The National Conclave on Tribal Languages and Museums began on 24 August 2026 in Mysuru, Karnataka.

• Focus: Tribal languages, museums, indigenous knowledge and cultural heritage.

4. INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY RESILIENCE INDEX (ITRI)

Current Context: SEBI introduced the Information Technology Resilience Index (ITRI) to assess and strengthen the IT resilience of Market Infrastructure Institutions (MIIs) such as stock exchanges, clearing corporations and depositories.

ABOUT ITRI

• Main objective: Measure the ability of MIIs to withstand, respond to and recover from IT disruptions and cyber incidents.
• The index provides a structured framework for evaluating the strength and resilience of critical IT systems supporting India’s securities market.

WHAT ARE MARKET INFRASTRUCTURE INSTITUTIONS?

• Stock Exchanges: Provide platforms for buying and selling securities.
• Clearing Corporations: Facilitate clearing and settlement of trades.
• Depositories: Hold securities in electronic form and facilitate their transfer.

Current Context: The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) launched the Garbhini Mitra Course for the 2026-27 academic session to strengthen training in Ayurvedic antenatal care and maternal health.

• Focus: Pregnancy care, maternal well-being and antenatal support
• Garbhini means a pregnant woman in Sanskrit.
• Thus, Garbhini Mitra broadly means a “friend/companion for pregnant women.”

6. 8.7 CRORE INDIAN YOUTH NEET: NITI AAYOG

Current Context: A NITI Aayog report titled “Reimagining Skilling for Viksit Bharat@2047” highlighted that around 8.7 crore Indian youth aged 15-29 years are NEET – not in employment, education or training.

ABOUT NEET

• It refers to young people who are neither working nor pursuing education or vocational training.
• The issue is particularly important because India has a large young working-age population.

• Only 8.25% of graduates have jobs relevant to their qualifications
• 67 crore people trained since 2014-15

Current Context: Mumbai made its debut in the IWG 2026 Work from Anywhere Index, scoring 77 points, highlighting its growing potential as a destination for remote workers and digital professionals.

8. WATERSPOUT

Current Context: A rare weather phenomenon resembling a waterspout was observed over the Brahmaputra River in Barpeta district, Assam.

ABOUT WATERSPOUT

• A waterspout is a rotating column of air and water droplets that develops over a water body.
• It generally appears as a funnel-shaped cloud extending from the cloud base towards the water surface.
• They are most commonly associated with thunderstorms or convective clouds.
• Duration:~5 minutes (occasionally up to 10 minutes)
• Wind Speed:~100 km/h

HOW DOES IT FORM?

• Warm, moist air rises from the water surface.
• Strong differences in wind speed and direction can create rotation.
• Rising air concentrates this rotation into a narrow column.
• Condensation makes the rotating column visible as a funnel-shaped structure.
• When the rotating column reaches the water surface, it is observed as a waterspout.
