1. WORLD ANTHROPOLOGY DAY
Observed annually on the third Thursday of February and fell on 19 February this year.
- Purpose: Promote awareness about anthropology and its relevance
- Focus Area: Understanding human societies, cultures, and evolution

2. ARUNACHAL PRADESH FOUNDATION DAY
Celebrated on 20 February.
- Year of statehood: 1987; Arunachal Pradesh became the 24th state of India on 20 February 1987.
- Earlier status and name: Known as North-East Frontier Agency (NEFA) and placed under Assam after independence; became a Union Territory named Arunachal Pradesh in 1972.
- Region: Northeastern India, bordering Bhutan, China and Myanmar; often called the “Land of the Rising Sun.”

3. MIZORAM FOUNDATION DAY
Mizoram celebrates its Foundation Day on 20 February.
ABOUT FOUNDATION DAY
- Year of statehood: 1987; Mizoram became the 23rd state of India on 20 February 1987.
- Earlier status: Part of Assam as Lushai Hills District, then Union Territory from 1972 under the North-Eastern Areas (Reorganisation) Act, 1971.
- Constitutional basis: Statehood followed the 1986 Mizoram (Mizo) Peace Accord and was enabled by the 53rd Constitutional Amendment Act, 1986–87.

4. WORLD DAY OF SOCIAL JUSTICE
Observed annually on 20 February.
Objective: To support efforts to tackle poverty, unemployment, and social exclusion and to promote a “society for all” based on equality, equity, human rights, and decent work.

5. VOICERA PLATFORM
Current Context: The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology unveiled VoicERA at the India Artificial Intelligence Impact Summit 2026.
ABOUT VOICERA
- Nature: Open-source end-to-end Voice Artificial Intelligence stack
- Deployment: Built on BHASHINI National Language Infrastructure
- Function: Enables multilingual voice and language Artificial Intelligence systems
- Design Principles: Open, modular, interoperable, cloud and on-premise ready
- Users: Government, research institutions, innovation ecosystem
SIGNIFICANCE
- Efficiency: Reduces duplication of development efforts
- Technology Benefit: Prevents vendor lock-in
- Strategic Role: Expands BHASHINI capabilities into real-time speech and conversational Artificial Intelligence
ABOUT BHASHINI
- Full Form: BHASHa Interface for India
- Developed By: Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology under National Language Translation Mission
- Core Function: Artificial Intelligence-based language translation platform
- Objective: Build national digital public infrastructure for languages
- Technology Base: Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing
- Implementation: Digital India BHASHINI Division under Digital India Corporation
- Language Coverage: Supports more than twenty-two Indian languages
- Purpose: Bridge language barriers and enhance digital inclusivity
POLICY AND PROGRAMME
6. LAKHPATI DIDI INITIATIVE
Current Context: The Government revised its target under the Lakhpati Didi Initiative, aiming to create six crore financially empowered women entrepreneurs by March 2029.
ABOUT LAKHPATI DIDI
- Definition: Self-Help Group member earning annual household income of Rupees One Lakh or more
- Income Criteria: Sustainable average monthly income exceeding Rupees Ten Thousand
- Focus: Individual women members of Self-Help Groups
- Implemented Under: Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission
- Objective: Promote women-led micro-enterprises and diversified livelihoods
- Nodal Ministry: Ministry of Rural Development
STRATEGY
- Livelihood Expansion: Support multiple income-generating activities
- Capacity Building: Cascade-based training and skill development
- Financial Support: Facilitated through National Rural Livelihoods Mission framework
SCHEME
7. BHARAT VISTAAR SCHEME
Current Context: The First Phase of Bharat VISTAAR was launched in Rajasthan to promote Artificial Intelligence-enabled advisory services for farmers.
ABOUT BHARAT VISTAAR
- Full Form: Virtually Integrated System to Access Agricultural Resources
- Type: Artificial Intelligence-driven digital advisory platform
- Objective: Promote Artificial Intelligence-based agricultural services
- Integration: Links AgriStack, Indian Council of Agricultural Research resources, weather data, mandi prices, and government schemes
- Access Mode: Farmers can use phones including feature phones
- Benefit: Provides multilingual conversational agricultural guidance and market information
