Current Context: PM Modi inaugurated two-day International Conference on “The Future of Environment and Climate Dynamics” on 19 September 2026.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

• The conference is being organised by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to discuss global environmental and climate challenges, environmental governance and climate justice.
• Participants:Judges from 17 countries, Supreme Court and High Court judges

OBJECTIVES

• Identify gaps in environmental policy formulation, implementation and enforcement.
• Exchange judicial approaches, scientific knowledge and environmental governance practices.

4. INDIA LAUNCHES NET ZERO PORTAL AND NAPCC DASHBOARD

Current Context: MoEFCC launched India Net Zero Portal and National Action Plan on Climate Change Dashboard on 16 September 2026.

ABOUT INDIA NET ZERO PORTAL

• A centralised digital platform for Indian entities to voluntarily register and disclose their Net Zero commitments.
• Entities can declare their Net Zero targets and provide annual progress updates.
• They can disclose their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
• Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions reporting is encouraged, while Scope 3 reporting is voluntary.
• Entities can also mention their pathways towards Net Zero, such as clean energy, energy efficiency and carbon removal.
• Creates a public repository of voluntary Net Zero commitments.

ABOUT NAPCC DASHBOARD (National Action Plan on Climate Change)

• It provides the framework for India’s national climate-change missions.
• The new dashboard provides a consolidated digital view of the implementation and progress of these missions.
