  • Ahmedabad has introduced a QR-code based Street Food Hygiene Monitoring System to improve food safety standards and enable consumers to access hygiene-related information about street food vendors.
  • Street food vendors are assigned unique QR codes.
  • Features: Customers scan QR code and submit ratings (1-5) on food quality, water quality, cleanliness, taste, and service. AMC officials review ratings weekly.

Current Context: IN-SPACe invited Expressions of Interest on 10 June 2026 for transfer of technology of ISRO’s Launch Vehicle Mark-3 (LVM3).

  • The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre has invited private companies to participate in the production and commercialization of the LVM-3 (Launch Vehicle Mark-3) under a public-private partnership model.
  • The initiative aims to enhance private sector participation in India’s space sector and strengthen the country’s commercial launch capabilities.
  • Also known as: Bahubali
  • Type: Three-stage launch vehicle, India’s heaviest and most powerful operational launch vehicle
  • Missions supported: Chandrayaan-2 (2019), Chandrayaan-3 (2023), launched 72 satellites for OneWeb constellation in 2022 and 2023

6. SHIVELUCH VOLCANO ERUPTS IN RUSSIA’S KAMCHATKA PENINSULA

Current Context: The Shiveluch Volcano in Russia’s Far East erupted recently, sending ash plumes 10 km into the air and triggering red-level aviation alerts for the area.

ABOUT SHIVELUCH VOLCANO

  • Shiveluch, one of the most active volcanoes in Russia, has erupted on the Kamchatka Peninsula.
  • Type: Stratovolcano (steep-sloped volcano composed of alternating layers of solidified ash, hardened lava, and volcanic rocks)
  • Age: Estimated between 60,000-70,000 years old
  • Summit height: 3,283 metres (10,771 feet)
  • Eruption history: More major eruptions than any other volcano in current period of geologic time; estimated 60 substantial eruptions in past 10,000 years

7.  PANGI MARKS 40 YEARS OF SINGLE-LINE ADMINISTRATION WITH GRAND REUNION

Current Context: The remote tribal valley of Pangi in Chamba district celebrated a significant milestone this week as it marked 40 years of the single-line administration system.

ABOUT THE EVENT

  • Introduced in 1985 in Pangi Valley.
  • Pangi’s difficult terrain, heavy snowfall, and prolonged isolation from the rest of the state necessitated a special administrative mechanism.
  • Single-Line Administration is a special administrative system in which various government departments in a remote area function under the unified control and coordination of a single authority, usually the local civil administrator.
  • Significance: Commemorated four decades of administrative reforms that have transformed one of Himachal Pradesh’s most isolated regions

  • Pangi Valley is situated in the northwestern part of Chamba District.
