IMPORTANT DAYS
1. INDIAN NAVY DAY
Observed on 4 December every year.
Aim: To honour the Navy’s role, achievements, and the tough challenges faced by naval personnel.
POLICY AND PROGRAMME
2. E-SWATHU 2.0
Current Context: Karnataka has launched e-Swathu 2.0, an upgraded digital platform for rural property records and services.
ABOUT e-SWATHU 2.0
Aim: Make rural property management fully digital and hassle-free.
Benefits:
- Provides quick online e-khata services.
- Helps regularise about 95 lakh rural properties.
- Expected to increase Gram Panchayat revenue by up to ₹2,000 crore.
1. Inclusion: Even homes outside traditional village boundaries can now be added to tax records.
2. Service Delivery: Available online and through Bapuji Centres.
3. Timeline: Applicants receive 11B property documents within 15 days.
HISTORY
3. CHAOLUNG SUKAPHA
Current Context: The Union Minister honoured Chaolung Sukapha during Assam Day celebrations.
ABOUT CHAOLUNG SUKAPHA
- A 13th-century leader and founder of the Ahom kingdom that shaped Assam for 600 years.
- Known as the creator of “Bor Asom” (Greater Assam).
- First Capital: Charaideo, which became an important cultural site.
ADMINISTRATION UNDER SUKAPHA
Territorial Units: Kingdom divided into khels or phoids, each responsible for supplying paiks.
Paik System:
1. Every male (16–50 years) served the king part-time in agriculture, construction, or combat.
2. In return, paiks were allotted land for cultivation.
Military Strategy: Used guerrilla-style combat suited to Assam’s rivers, hills, and forests.

4. NEW GI TAGS FROM TAMIL NADU
Current Context: Five traditional products from Tamil Nadu have received GI Tags.
PRODUCTS RECEIVING GI TAGS
1. WORAIYUR COTTON SARI
Region: Manamedu village, Tiruchirappalli.
Features: Korvai borders, bold colour blocks, geometric motifs.
Community: Devanga weaver community.
2. THOOYAMALLI RICE
Meaning: “Pure jasmine.”
Type: Traditional sambha-season rice (135–140 days).
Benefit: Nutritious heritage crop.
3. KAVINDAPADI NAATU SAKKARAI (JAGGERY POWDER)
Region: Kavindapadi, Erode.
Method: Mechanically crushed cane → slow evaporation → fine jaggery powder.
Irrigation: Lower Bhavani Project canal.
4. NAMAKKAL KALCHATTI
Material: Soapstone cookware known for heat retention.
Usage: Traditional South Indian cooking vessel.
5. AMBASAMUDRAM CHOPPU SAMAN (WOODEN TOYS)
Origin: 200-year-old craft tradition.
Products: Miniature wooden utensils, tables, chairs, household items.
Wood: Kadamba, teak, rosewood.

5. EXERCISE EKUVERIN
Current Context: The 14th edition of Exercise Ekuverin will be held in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
ABOUT EXERCISE EKUVERIN
Meaning: “Friends” in Dhivehi.
Started: 2009.
Type: Annual bilateral exercise (India–Maldives), held alternately.
Aim: Improve interoperability for counter-insurgency and counter-terrorism in jungle, coastal, and semi-urban areas.
OTHER INDIA–MALDIVES EXERCISES:
Bilateral: Ekuverin, Ekatha
Trilateral: Dosti (India–Maldives–Sri Lanka)

6. SANCHAR SAATHI – MANDATORY PRE-INSTALLED APP
Current Context: DoT has made it compulsory for all newly made/imported mobile phones in India to come with Sanchar Saathi app pre-installed.
ABOUT SANCHAR SAATHI
Type: Telecom safety & awareness platform (app + web portal).
Purpose: Protect digital identity, report fraud, track connections, block lost phones.
KEY FEATURES
- Chakshu: Report scam calls, fake KYC alerts, phishing links.
- Spam Reporting: For unwanted commercial calls/messages.
- Fraud Links/Apps Reporting
- SIM Check: See how many mobile numbers are linked to your ID.
- IMEI Blocking: Make stolen phones unusable.
- Device Authenticity: Verify phone via IMEI.
- Report Fake +91 Calls

- Verified Contacts Directory
ECONOMY
7. MASALA BONDS
Current Context: ED is examining Masala Bonds issued by Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB).
ABOUT MASALA BONDS
- Rupee-denominated bonds issued abroad by Indian entities.
- First issued in 2014 by IFC.
- Investors must be from FATF-compliant countries.
- Benefit: Currency risk borne by investors, not Indian issuers.
